How can you improve you reading skill?

In the modern age of information, reading truly is a fundamental survival skill. Here are tips that anyone can use to improve their reading skills: Find something to read. Examples include a children's book, a newspaper article, a short story. Sound out each letter as best you can and you will notice they form some sort of word. Find a place to read where you can concentrate. Begin your reading by looking at the pictures, or listening to the music to get a feel for what you are going to be reading about. Start with titles, names, or other larger print items that you may know or ever thought about. Read as much as you are able. When you start getting bored or need a break, take one. Reading should be fun and enjoyable, don't force it. Reread the material. It is okay to reread something if you do not understand it fully the first time. Go to the library and pick up lots of books. Pick books depending on your reading level, no matter what your age. Read the page carefully. Don't rush, take your time. Use context clues to find out a word's meaning.

Find any type of paper to keep notes in. Taking notes, while not immediately exciting, is a good way to boost reading comprehension. If you're reading for a class, try a notebook. But if you're reading for fun, get as many pieces of paper as you think you'll need for the story and, of course, grab a pen or pencil. Jot down what you remember about each chapter, section, or even paragraph. If your reading comprehension is already decent, you may only need to take occasional notes.
Read with a helper. Whether that helper is a teacher, a friend, or a parent, read with someone above your level who you're comfortable with talking to and asking questions. When reading with a helper, follow this structure:
-Pre-reading: define vocabulary words ahead of time; preview key comprehension questions so that you can look out for them while you read.
-Reading: look out for the comprehension questions you went over before reading; ask questions; read aloud if necessary; take notes; listen to someone else reading.
-Post-reading: summarize what you just read; ask any questions you had; predict what's going to happen next based on what you just read.

There are two techniques that can help me to improve my reading skill.
1. Scanning : scanning is the technique you might use when reading a telephone directory. You pass your vision speedily over a section of text in order to find particular words or phrases that are relevant to your current task. You can scan:
-the introduction or preface of a text;
-the first or last paragraphs of chapters;
-the concluding or summarising chapter of a text;
-the book index.
2. Skimming : skimming is the process of speedy reading for general meaning. Let your eyes skip over sentences or phrases which contain detail. Concentrate on identifying the central or main points. Use this technique to:
-pre-view a selection of text prior to detailed reading.
-refresh your understanding of a selection of text following detailed reading.

or interested in.
Reading is door that leads to learning in the world.
Before you read many kinds of book, I will suggest you
making meditation about 5 minutes.
Moreover, the period of morning is calm and peaceful
to read many books.
Next, let your eyes scan or skim the keys word.
I make sure that there are some will be interested for you.
It stimulates you to read more and more.
And then go through the messages to get more information.
Reading if you think it's hard, it becomes hard.
if you think it's easy, it's easy.

Developing your reading speed

Don't worry about how quickly you are reading but instead, concentrate on reading the line in only three fixations.
As this becomes more natural, practise without drawing lines.
Later, reduce the number of fixations to two per line.
Once this increased word span becomes a comfortable habit, an increase in your reading speed will occur.
- Have a clear focus for your reading. Set your reading goals.
- Survey the text before you spend the time and effort involved in detailed reading.
- Scan and skim to select the text for detailed reading.
- Scan and skim after detailed reading to reinforce your understanding.
- Use a form of note taking whilst reading in detail, to keep you concentrating, aid understanding and provide you with a record of your reading.
- Using clear reading goals and a variety of reading skills is more important than increasing your reading speed.
- To improve your reading speed, don't increase the speed of the eye across the page, but increase the number of words the eye recognises in a single fixation.

I have many ways to improve my reading skills.
-Meditation ( You have to do meditation before reading a book
because it can help you have a concentrate in reading.
- Building imagine because reading is imagine.
You have to sit on the chair in the garden. And imagine that
you pick up an orange and think about what is smell? and
what is the color? Or How to you feel when you touch it.
It is the best way to make imagine.
- While you read a book you have to close every communication tool
such as mobile phone, computer etc. Because these things will be
temptation of your interested.
- When read a book you have to sit in straight because it can improve
the efficient in reading. And don't read in your bed.
So these are ways that I do to improve my reading skill.

This is the most weakest skill for me in learning English.
I like to say that I hate reading because I get an eye-ache when i scan my eyes on the thousands of letters. I just try to read when I have the exam. My trick is reviewing many times to remember.
