I think, there are more negative effects rather than the positive ones. for example, teenagers and some adults too use internet in a bad way. And especially teenagers are addicted to sites like facebook, orkut , twitter etc. Teenagers cannot concentrate on studies because of this. but , there are many positive effetcs too... like for example through facebook we can easily find our old friends or relatives and people from abroad. similarly skype is also a very good thing as we vpcan videochat with our friends or relatives far away from us.

The most negative side is loss of privacy. While you can look up old classmates and friends on other continents that you lost touch with, others can locate you as well with more sinister motives in mind. Who hasn't heard about the phishing e-mails from countries half a globe away telling you that you inherited some estate or won a lottery?

The sad thing is, these things work and people submit the personal information asked for because they expect people to be honest. What makes it worse that with the technology available most of these people who run scams usually do not get found, as the same technology allows them to remain anonymous.

      

Negative effects of internet such as internet addiction, explicit contents and plagiarism are not unusual in today’s culture, if not used properly, the Internet may be severely damaging to the mental and physical health of children and young adults. One of the most obvious problems with young generation using the internet is the chance of getting addicted. Children and young adolescents that have grown up using computers will naturally be more susceptible to getting hooked on the internet. This computer overuse results in less time for them to study, do homework, read, exercise, or participate in any co curriculum activities. As a result, internet addiction directly affected their day to day’s lifestyle and characteristic whom some are suppose to be inside the classroom yet they are wasting time surfing the Internet, watching pornography, playing online games in cyber cafe.
