How often should you go to the dentist?

Few people took good care of their teeth. There were no guidelines for how often you should see a dentist. Many dentists focused on fixing problems rather than preventing them.
This proved to be a useful rule of thumb and has remained common. Even if you take excellent care of your teeth and gums at home, you still need to see your dentist regularly. Your dentist can check for problems that you may not see or feel. Many dental problems don't become visible or cause pain until they are in more advanced stages. Examples include cavities, gum disease and oral cancer.Regular visits allow your dentist to find early signs of disease. Problems can be treated at a manageable stage.
On average, seeing a dentist twice a year works well for most people. A few people can get away with fewer visits. Others may need more frequent visits. People with very little risk of cavities or gum disease can do fine seeing their dentist just once a year. People with a high risk of dental disease might need to visit every three or four months, or more.

Actually the doctor told me to go to meet him every month or three months.
But I hardly ever to go to see the dentist. I have no reason to go until I have a toothache.
I know it's a bad habit but I really have no time for my oral nor my health.

I've heard that we should go to see the dentist as much as we can. But if you don't have much time you can see the dentist 2 times a year. that's fine for having a healthy mouth

To be honest, I seldom go to the dentist even it is free.
I remember that the last time I went to the dentist was when I was in grade 12.
It is sad that I don't care for my teeth.

No more than once a year and in fact there is no reason for Xrays every 6 months
- reeks of over serviving.
If you have good dentition then yearly for a good cleaning is more than adequate.
You have no need to feel apologetic if you do not attend twice a year.
You know what - try another dentist anyway the next time you go.
As for income - certainly in the US they do very well indeed financially.
