| There are many affects alcohol has on nutrition, in people of all ages. If you crave alcohol, or feel distresses without it you are said to be psychologically dependent, if your body changes when alcohol is stopped such as hot/cold flashes, tremor, or seizures you are physically dependent. One effect that alcohol has is on pregnant women, this causes fetal alcohol syndrome, this cause low IQ, fine motor skills dysfunction, which causes weak grasp, poor hand-eye coordination, and hyperactivity in later childhood. Heart murmurs, cervical vertebral malformations and joint malformations are common also. Also two drinks per week have been linked to higher rates of still birth and miscarriage. Just because the mother did not want to go without a drink, prolonged misuse of alcohol can have serious effects on health affecting certain organs of the body: Liver and digestion, Cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver (result of long term drinking, main killer of older drinkers), Ulcers in stomach and intestines, High blood pressure, High fat levels in blood, Disease of the coronary arteries

| Alcohol can risk every parts of your body. I've read that there were many effects in males and females. In this case I'm a female so I'll show you how alcohol harms females' body. 1.BrainAlcohol is a depressant, which means that it slows down the brain. Alcohol also alters the brain’s chemistry and increases the risk of depression and anxiety. Drinking heavily over a long period of time can also have long-term effects on memory. 2.BreastThere is evidence to suggest that alcohol increases the risk of developing breast cancer. Drinking alcohol does not mean you will get breast cancer, it means your risk of developing it will be increased. How much you drink over your lifetime is what increases the risk. Staying within the daily unit guidelines when you do drink could help to lessen these risks. 3.HeartLong-term excessive drinking increases your risk of developing problems with your heart. The heart can sometimes have trouble coping with occasional heavy drinking sessions too. Drinking within the government’s daily unit guidelines is however unlikely to cause damage and some research has even shown that small amounts of alcohol may help to protect the heart. 4.StomachAlcohol irritates the stomach, so heavy drinking can cause sickness and nausea and sometimes diarrhoea. In the longer term, alcohol is associated with an increased risk of cancer of the stomach. 5.PancreasHeavy drinking can cause pancreatitis, which is when your pancreas becomes inflamed and its cells are damaged. Around half of people with chronic pancreatitis develop diabetes. 6.LiverRegularly drinking over the government’s daily unit guidelines can increase your risk of developing liver disease and cause irreparable damage to this very important part of your body, often without the person knowing until it’s too late. Liver cancer is also one of the two cancers most directly linked with alcohol. 7.BladderBecause alcohol is a diuretic it acts on the kidneys to make you pee out much more than you take in, which is why when you drink alcohol you find yourself going to the toilet so much more than when you drink water or soft drinks. So what’s all that drinking actually doing to your bladder? Read our feature to find out. 8.BowelsAlcohol is often linked with bowel conditions. It can trigger symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS ) and recent studies have shown that even small amounts of alcohol can increase the risk of bowel cancer. 9.Blood PressureOne in three adults in the UK has high blood pressure. Regularly drinking too much alcohol is one of the known contributing factors to developing the condition. Men who regularly consume more than eight units of alcohol a day are four times more likely to develop high blood pressure, while women who regularly consume more than six units of alcohol a day double their risk of developing the condition. 10.ReproductionAlcohol can affect women’s reproductive systems, and damage fertility. Even small amounts can affect a woman’s menstrual cycle and reduce the chance of conceiving. Alcohol can reduce a man’s testosterone levels, leading to loss of libido. It can also damage the quality, structure and movement of sperm by stopping the liver from properly metabolising vitamin A, which is needed for sperm development. | Drinking too much alcohol affects many parts of the body. It can be especially harmful to the liver, the organ that metabolizes (breaks down) alcohol and other harmful substances. People who drink heavily for a long time can develop diseases such as liver inflammation or severe liver scarring. Alcohol-related liver disease can cause death. Alcohol not broken down by the liver goes to the rest of the body, including the brain. Alcohol can affect parts of the brain that control movement, speech, judgment, and memory. These effects lead to the familiar signs of drunkenness: difficulty walking, slurred speech, memory lapses, and impulsive behavior. Long-term heavy drinking can shrink the frontal lobes of the brain, which impairs thinking skills.

| There are many bad effects of drinking alcohol. One of the negative effects that alcohol tends to have is the increased risk for multiple serious diseases. Increased consumption of alcohol can lead to serious medical problems such as cirrhosis of the liver, which often results in death. Infections, sleeping disorders and sexual dysfunctions can also be caused by consumption of alcohol. Recent studies have also shown that consumption of alcohol can actually raise the risk of certain cancers, including breast cancer, throat cancer and intestinal cancer. Work Problem. Many people that consume alcohol on a regular basis find the negative effects of alcohol coming to play in their professional lives as well. Often, alcohol consumption leads to missed days of work because of hangovers and to shoddy work. As a result of these negative effects, some people may even find themselves losing their jobs as a result of their alcoholism. Consuming alcohol can be very serious and there are many grave negative effects that are caused by alcohol. Avoiding alcohol can help you avoid these adverse effects and perhaps even save your life.

| Brain: Alcohol interferes with the brain’s communication pathways, and can affect the way the brain looks and works. These disruptions can change mood and behavior, and make it harder to think clearly and move with coordination.
Heart: Drinking a lot over a long time or too much on a single occasion can damage the heart, causing problems including:
Cardiomyopathy – Stretching and drooping of heart muscle Arrhythmias – Irregular heart beat Stroke High blood pressure Research also shows that drinking moderate amounts of alcohol may protect healthy adults from developing coronary heart disease.

| Alcohol starts affecting your body . After one or two drinks you may start feeling more sociable, but drink too much and basic human functions, such as walking and talking become much harder. Some of alcohol’s effects disappear overnight – while others can stay with you a lot longer, or indeed become permanent. If you've drunk heavily the night before, you’ll almost certainly wake up with a hangover. | When a person consumes more alcohol than their body can efficiently metabolize than the amount of alcohol in their bloodstream becomes elevated. The amount of alcohol in a person's blood stream is referred to as their blood alcohol level. The higher a person's blood alcohol level is the more extreme the effects of alcohol are on a person. How fast a person's blood alcohol level raises and the effects it has on them varies greatly depending on a number of things, including weight, age, gender, body composition, general health, and the presence of other drugs or medications.

| There are many effect of alcohol that are not good for our health. I see many people like to drink alcohol but I think why they like because the smell is not good. They can damage our organ such as liver, lung and stomach. Alcohol is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the stomach and the small intestine. Food in the stomach slows down the rate at which alcohol is absorbed, but does not prevent intoxication or drunkenness. All alcohol consumed will reach the bloodstream, regardless of how much food is in the stomach. Alcohol is distributed throughout the water in the body, but not into fatty tissue.

| When people begin consuming alcohol they initially may feel increased relaxation, self-confidence, happiness and sociability, but this generally progresses into more negative behaviors. Alcohol consumption leads to slowed reflexes, reduced coordination, impaired thinking, poor judgement, depression, impaired memory, and a decreased ability to control motor functions.
Alcohol use has been linked to violent behavior and an increase in unprotected sex among young adults. Alcohol also increases the risk of becoming a victim of sexual assault. Alcohol increases the risk of motor vehicle accidents, suicide, injury, domestic violence and drowning.
